OTHS Special Education Dept

We offer:

• Monitoring of progress within the regular academic program
• Extra time on tests and quizzes
• Help with test writing strategies
• Academic support through remediation and re-teaching
• Learning Strategies Classes and Resource periods
• Help with transitions (to high school from Grade 8 and then onto post- secondary education )
• The Special Education Room (146) is equipped with computers, printers, and soft-ware programs that help with note-taking and organization
• Learning Support Room (154)
• Support for students’ subject teachers

Applications and inquiries regarding these programs must be directed to the school board. Entry into these programs is based on both the student’s specific needs and the availability of space in the program. An application for placement in the program is made by the student’s community school principal in collaboration with the in-school
