Scholarships and Bursaries and Grants and Loans: so, what is the diff?

scholarship is money given for your high marks or for your achievements in one or more areas. You do not have to repay it.

bursary is money given because of your financial need. You do not have to repay it.

grant is money given because of your high marks or because of your financial need. You do not have to repay it.

loan is money given because of your financial need. You have to repay it.

If your family income is under $50,000, your tuition is covered. Even if your family earns more, OSAP has grants that will make college or university more affordable.

Here are some other great ideas on how to pay for your schooling in the future!

1. Ask your family if they can help you! You never know until you ask! Try this: 
"Granny, [ or Dad or Mother or Auntie or Uncle ] would you like to help me pay for some of my schooling? I promise to work hard!"

2OSAP loans & grants for all students who live in Ontario : there is a new process for applying now. You will apply on the OCAS and OUAC sites.

3. Read carefully through our posted list of scholarships to see if you can apply to some of them.
