Technology Department

At Osgoode Township High School, we don’t just teach technology—we empower students to think, create, and innovate in a modern, progressive world.

The Transportation Technology program provides students with hands-on, real-life experiences and foundational knowledge in automotive repair and maintenance. Students learn to identify automotive systems and components, perform routine vehicle maintenance, and use diagnostic tools and equipment safely. Topics typically include engine operation, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, safety procedures, and shop practices. The course emphasizes practical skills, problem-solving, and career exploration in the automotive industry.

In the senior grades, students are able to focus their learning on personal and school-related projects, like the creation of the OTHS Derby Car for the Metcalfe Fair. The course can also prepare students for industry certifications or further training in technical schools or apprenticeships.

The Construction Technologies program introduces students to the fundamentals of construction technology with a hands-on focus on woodworking and carpentry skills. Students will learn about construction materials, tools, and their associated safety practices. Emphasis is placed on measuring, cutting, joining, and finishing wood, along with interpreting construction drawings and understanding structural basics. The course fosters problem-solving, teamwork, and technical skills essential for careers in the construction and woodworking industries.

In the Technical Design program, senior students continue improving their skill through practical projects in the woodshop, gaining experience in framing, cabinetry, furniture making, and basic construction techniques. Students engage in the design process from concept to creation, developing practical problem solving skills throughout all stages of drafting, prototyping, and fabrication. The course encourages creativity, technical literacy, and an understanding of how design influences everyday life.

Osgoode Township High School's Communication Technology program is where creativity meets cutting-edge innovation. Designed for forward-thinking students, our program offers immersive learning in game design, photography, 3D printing, 3D modeling, coding, Photoshop, film design, and basic architectural concepts. Through hands-on experience, students develop the skills to navigate and excel in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Our commitment to excellence is reinforced by our Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program, which has propelled students to success in the gaming industry. With multiple published titles on Steam of our Lil Johnny game series, our students are proving their ability to create and launch real-world projects.
