Healthy Active Living Education - All Genders This course focuses on the development of fitness and health through the use of small group activities such as Table- Tennis, Badminton and Small Group Games. In addition to skill development in these activities, there will be an emphasis on peer leadership within the class setting, as well as outside of the class environment. They will investigate issues related to healthy sexuality and the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, and will participate in activities designed to develop goal-setting, communication, and social skills. |

Personal and Fitness Activities - Female |

This focus course emphasizes daily physical participation in a variety of demanding physical challenges that serve to promote an interest in personal fitness and lifelong healthy active living among young women. Students learn fitness training theory, skills, principles and methods used to improve personal fitness and physical competence, as well as safety and injury prevention. Students investigate issues related to personal fitness testing and training, and participate in activities designed to develop goal-setting, developing and following a personal fitness program and they train both physically and mentally to complete a competitive 5km or 10 km road race. This course is designed for female students who want to improve their personal level of fitness in an all-female environment. |

Course Description: Not all classrooms have four walls. Do you want a physical ed credit while in our Canadian out-of-doors? Do you learn by doing? This co-ed, group-oriented, interdisciplinary program takes place primarily within “the outdoor classroom” “The Greenbelt”, the Rideau River, and the Adirondacks) as well as within the conventional classroom to get ready for our outdoor experiences (Canoeing, Hiking, Orienteering, Winter Camping and Cycling). Students leave this course with memories, and skills that last a lifetime. |
